>>. >> it is dan. if you know scott's valley it is full of steep cliff so people out here are acustom to rock mud slides but this is the biggest in awhile. slide 2 to 300 feet long and 150 feet wide. it wiped out a power line and cut off about 25 homes from the main road. people can walk around it but no vehicle are getting up to the home. geologist survey the slide and says the zapped stone rock are still unstable which could make it difficult to clear the road. resident along lockhart gulch road notice small slides this morning but it all came down around 2 this afternoon and woman named jackie caught it on her smart phone. >> anyone who was there was like that's going down. we kept thinking it was going down any minute. >> oh, man. oh, man. hotel my god. about oh!

it looks like the county seems to think it's going to take quite awhile to clear all this rubble. it is a mess. i have never seen anything like this in my life. >>reporter: the scott's valley fire department or district says the slide is still moving ever so slightly. about an hour ago we could still hear tumble rock every once in awhile. geologist back here tomorrow morning to survey the slide again and it is going to take them awhile to clear this out but the concern now is that this next wave of storms could looseen things back up again and possibly damage some of those homes out there. reporting li in scott's valley, abc 7 news. >> that certainly is a possibility. thanks very much. >> unusual weather all around the bay today. south bay hail just outside our san jose

office. wanted to show you those pictures and check out the hail storm in santa rosa this afternoon. beverly e mailed this to you report at kg o dash tv.com. thanks for. that strong wind took down part of metal car north sunnyvale. richard and jennifer l sent these pictures to you report powered by you tube. we appreciate the pictures a great deal. yuba city area tornado national weather service first reported funnel cloud at 3:00 p.m. people in town say they saw it touch the ground making it a tornado not a funnel cloud and did turn into a tornado at that time near the small town of maxwell. the image was taken by ron turner. we are just seeing some of the problems caused by this weekend fierce wind and rain. it ripped more than a dozen boat from the moorings in marin county. l we found 2 of the boats that washed ashore in tiburon. there is a potential environmental fleet gas and oil leak because of the boats.

coast guard wants the boats moved quickly. more from vick lee. >> those familiar with the shoreline say they have never seen anything like this. so many boats washed up on rock and beaches. this was the ripple effect of the furious storm that swept through the area early sunday morning. >> it was blowing very hard and raining very hard. so hard that really hard to stand up and lean into the wind nishtion all about 17 boats broke loose from the anchor in richardson bay. linda davis lives on one that was spared but says it was chaotic. >> i saw boat come by us left and right. people it was dark. coast guard towing boat another guy on the averaging ran towing boat left and right. >>reporter: among those that washed ashore on strawberry point 4 motorboat. some had to be towed quickly because they posed an environmental threat. >> had all the you household goods. pretty much broken out of the boat and all over the

rip rap. >>reporter: one pleasure craft began leaking fuel. >> when you came around the corner over there the eye started burning from the smell of it. it was extremely stron strong. >>reporter: harbor master says there was a minor spill which the coast guard cleaned up quickly. but they want the boat owners to take the vessel out as soon as possible before they cause any more damage to the environment. >> most of the vessels are about 30 to 40 feet pleasure craft vessels so we are probably looking at maybe 100 to 200 gallon potential on each one. >>reporter: now most if not all of these boats are what they call anchor out. or boats that were anchored in the bay and not tied to dock. harbor master tells that you say there are about half dozen boats still stranded on the rocks. we have seen divers here examining the damages on these boats and they tell us that most of these boats suffered heavy damage so much so in fact that they will probably have to be scrapped. vick lee, 7 news.

job is which is to pay attention to the evidence that is presented to them. that has been vented by cross examination which nothing else has up until today. so these people are going to be the true experts in this case. >>reporter: the jury is made up of 8 women and 4 men only 2 are black both women. bonds defense team says race and gender don't matter. >> i think it would be borderline disrespectful for me to say so many men or tall people or red hair people that's not how we look at this. we have a fair impartial jury who were selected after a an open process. >>reporter: one juror who was in the courtroom but later consist missed told the judge he might be reluctant to render a judgment against a great athlete like mr. bonds. one dismissed said steroids are like cheating. you have an advantage over the other players. it's not fair. bonds being tried on 4 charges of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice. he's accused of lying to a 2,000 3 grand jury about whether he knowingly used steroids.

ism jury selection wrapped up today in east bay courtroom where 2 men connected with the blast muslim bakery on the trial for murder of journalist bailey. cecelia was in court. >> 3 and a half years after bailey murder a jury of 7 women and 5 men was selected to decide the fate of the 2 men on

trial for his killing. with mountain of evidence and dozens of witnesses the case could last three months. but the key testimony will come from pl the person who admitted to pulling the trigger. defense attorney already say he's lying. >> he's very inconsistent. he's lied b.he's lying again. completely inconsistent with his tale and i think the jury will see he's a liar. >>reporter: in a plea deal he will receive 25 year sentence in exchange for his testimony against macky man accused of helping to hunt bailey down and bay the fourth man accused of ordering the hit. bailey shot as he opened his post office early on a busy downtown oakland street. they hoped to hold the trial out of toychbility i think because all of your here the fact that mr. bailey is a journalist is extremely important and that drove our motion for change of venue. >>reporter: in opening statement prosecutor crumbeled held up the shotgun that killed bailey and showed the jury his

oakland, abc 7 news. go back and talk about the wchblingts all road into yosemite national park closed tonight because of snow, ice, mud slide and down tree and power lines. in the last 24 hours the winter storm has dropped nearly four feet of snow throughout the park. 9 inches of snow has fallen in the town of el portal just outside the park. highway 41, 120 and 140 into yosemite on the map are all temporarily closed. officials are not sure when those roads will be open. but one thing we can be sure office more rain and snow is on the way to california. sandy is here. we needed this break today after this weekend. >> we sure d.this weekend storm really dumped some heavy rain and you heard the wind. wind gust up to 70 miles an hour. >> hurricane force or low end. >> actually just barely 74 so we were close. really gusty winds here in the bay area. up to four feet of snow in the sierra nevada. so let's get

some very light showers. this isn't the storm. just ahead of the storm. so what will happen is as the afternoon goes on the rainfall starts to pick up in intense. >> it becomes more wide spread and gets heavy. evening hour definitely messy evening commute and at 1:00 o'clock right ahead of the cold front we will see some brief downpour here. behind the cold front still some scattered showers for 5:00 a.m. wednesday and this just continues with thunderstorms possibly develop by wednesday afternoon here. wednesday night still plenty of shower activity and when all said and done up to 2 to three inches of rain expected in the santa cruz mountains and north bay mountains. north bay pick up 1 to 2 inches. for the rest of the bay area anywhere from half inch to an inch of rain with this system here. overnight tonight temperatures in the mid 30's to the upper 40's and by morning do look for wet roadway. tomorrow afternoon temperatures primarily in the 50's 60 in san jose. 46 at clear lake.

for the corporation, the president is very blunt in a late statement saying quote nothing in these e-mails suggest any data was hidden, altered or covered up. he says the asbestos levels at the shipyard are not harmful. in the newsroom, abc 7 news. san francisco police are looking for man who burglarized a church and adjoining preschool. this is the surveillance video from early this morning at lakeside presbyterian church near stone town mall again in san francisco. the man broke a window in the preschool to get in. then wandered around the building for 20 minutes or.so of costing up to 9,000 dollars worth of damage. authorities believe he stole electronic keyboard as well as some other things from the school. >> california largest health care provider is reducing and delaying its upcoming rate pooibing hike that drew controversy. anthem blue cross announce dad that it will put off the planned april premium hike until july and will delay an increase in the deductible

and co-payment until next january. state insurance commissioner dave jones says this will save its 600,000 policy holders at least 40 million dollars. jones says blue shield aetna and pacific care have also agreed to delay in premium hikes. >> frightening experience for san jose woman when her sun roof suddenly shattered above her head as driving. just what cause that had sun roof to shatter became bone of contention between her and the dealership. that's when michael got involved. >>reporter: michelle park remembers what happened vividly that early saturday morning. she says she was driving northbound on highway 101 near sun veil not under an overpass when she heard a loud bang. >> about so it is like a little miniexplosion going off right above your head you think my god what just happen. >>reporter: the explosion left a huge hole in her sun roof. only the jagged edges remail. i looked around. looked

through my rear-view mirror. saw all my window intact. nothing shattered so i pulled down pulled back the cover of my sun roof and shattered glass started falling on me. >>reporter: she brought the new 2010 into santa clara for inspection. servicemanger wrote in this e-mail to bmw corporate the shop foreman found no signs of impact damage. the client is requesting this to be repaired under warranty. hour later bmw replied i picked up more rock in the last three months and this is not a product issue. she will need to contact her insurance company he should have requested picture. send somebody out to nipt. 3 minutes he says a rock issue. how would he know. >>reporter: soychtd internet and found car owner of various make reported the sun roof also suddenly shatter. we talked to steve creek bmw. officials there declined to go on camera but told us a rock likely hit the window and bounced back on

the roof. we then discussed the incident with dr. doctor of professor of mechanical engineering at uc berkeley. >> we take the math times the velocity at given time. >>reporter: he calculate add rock lofted into the air bay vehicle tire would reach a height of 10 or 15 feet. it would have to come down at 70 to 80 miles an hour to break the sun roof. >> there is not a chance in the world that an unintentional rock that is lofted up bay vehicle would ever break a sun roof panel. >>reporter: he says a maximum velocity of rock coming down would be 25 miles an hour. well short of the needed 70 miles an hour. he said is more likely the sun roof broke due to the stress caused by changes in temperatures or from fatigu fatigue. >> in both cases would i say that in my opinion the car manufacturer has the problem. base klit is a manufacturer defect. >>reporter: so we called bmw corporate. it agreed to replace the sun roof free of
